"LAMPA" calls for event proposals

LAMPA invites everyone – groups of like minded individuals, companies or government institutions – to submit event proposals for the third Conversation festival LAMPA, taking place June 30 – July 1 in the Cēsis castle park. The conversation festival LAMPA is an annual open air festival, gathering thousands and offering over 150 events to exchange opinions, sharpen the mind, and expand one’s horizons in our ever-changing world.

"The conversation festival LAMPA highly values the participants and organizations that co-create the festival programme. A fascinating, high quality program of events has been put together in previous years through the cooperation of a large number of individuals and organizations. The festival is a gift to Latvia, and also a source of pride and satisfaction for each program participant and festival goer. This year we are once again inviting collaboration with everyone, who seeks in-depth, meaningful dialogue with society and who relishes the strength of a good conversation,” invites festival director Ieva Morica.

There are no limits placed on themes and formats for the events, but proposed events will be evaluated and accepted based on the festival manifesto and event criteria. For more information, and to propose a festival event, visit: http://www.festivalslampa.lv/gb/take-part/

LAMPA gains strength each year. Last year, it gathered 9000 festival goers and 450 opinion leaders, who attended events put on by 90 organizers – enterprises, NGOs, universities, media, government institutions, cultural institutions and activists. Planning an event for the festival is a great opportunity to influence public affairs in Latvia, have direct debates with opinion leaders and decision makers, and engage in conversation with the general public on issues that matter.

The festival is non-commercial, and free to attendees. Costs are covered by donations, grants, and co-financing from event organizers. The festival organizers are offering stipends for substantive, original events to cover the co-financing. Applications for stipends are accepted from individuals and NGOs. Swedbank will offer stipends for education-themed events. The Foundation for an Open Society DOTS will offer non-theme-specific stipends.

The initiators and main supporters of the Conversation festival LAMPA are the Foundation for an Open Society ‘’DOTS” and Swedbank. The festival home is the Cēsis castle park, and support is provided by the Cēsis regional council. The main organizing team includes the Foundation for an Open Society ‘’DOTS”, Swedbank, the advertising agency ‘’Armadillo” and the communication management agency ‘’Deep White”. Festival events are supported by the British Council Latvia, the Boris and Inara Teterev Foundation, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and "Enefit". Informative support is provided by the news sites Tvnet.lv and Apollo.lv, the national information agency LETA and the magazine ‘’IR”.
